Let me share a story. One of our students came to CEI with a full-time job and family responsibilities, determined to improve their life through education. They enrolled in evening classes, balancing the demands of work, family, and studies, all while pursuing a career they had dreamed of for years. Thanks to the financial support from donors, this student could focus on their goals without the overwhelming burden of tuition. Soon, they will be the first in their family to earn a degree. Stories like theirs are a powerful reminder that your gift doesn’t just educate—it elevates entire families and communities. As the saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” Every scholarship, every act of generosity pushes our students and our region that much further, and together, we’re building the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.

felt that all CEI nursing faculty needed to have at least a basic understanding of simulations and how they work. She created a day-long SIM conference to teach this to our faculty and some others. That training she created is now used by other institutions to teach their faculty. She uses her talents this way because she is very student-focused and dedicated to the students getting the best training and clinical experience.

She also developed a new curriculum for her own labs and polished some existing labs. This happens as a result of her working with other instructors to match their curriculum. In his time here, that small technical college became CEI, enrollment grew 270%, the quality of the college’s programs improved, and we are in the middle of constructing a building on campus. Linda is an award-winning artist and teacher who is well known in the western United States as an artistic force. We don’t have space to list all her awards, exhibitions, juried shows, gallery showings, and shows where she’s been a featured artist. But it bears mentioning that she was artist-in-residence at Yellowstone National Park a few years ago. Many of her delightful works graced CEI’s campus for many years. Hello from the CEI Foundation Board of Directors! It's been another exciting and productive year for the board. This is my final year as chair and Tyson Daniels will take over January 1st. We are all excited for this change and know that Tyson will do an amazing job! Thanks to our generous community, the foundation achieved many milestones. Over $350,000 in scholarships were awarded to 248 CEI students, empowering them to graduate, start careers, and contribute to eastern Idaho as strong citizens. We sincerely appreciate all who donated to make this possible. This year, new donors established two additional scholarships, and the Great Race for Education—Treasure Island Edition, raised a net of $90,000! Beyond scholarships, more than $50,000 in grants funded CEI campus projects, aiding current and future students. A major highlight was the foundation’s $1,000,000 contribution to the CEI Future Tech building. This gift will serve to benefit thousands of students for generations to come! To keep this momentum into 2025, ongoing support is vital. You can donate online at ceigiving.org/donate , use the enclosed envelope to send a contribution, or contact our executive director, Dave Facer, at 208-535-5398 to discuss giving options. ROOTS OF RESILIENCE: How Family Values & Scholarships Drive Academic Triumphs
BY AISHA NALDER
I was born and raised in Mexico City, in the vibrant neighborhood of Coyoacán, surrounded by history and culture. When I moved to the United States at 15, I carried with me not only my heritage but also the deeply held belief in the power of education—a belief instilled in me by my family. As the eldest of three siblings and the first immigrant student in my family, I faced the challenges of adapting to a new country, learning a new language, and balancing academic expectations.
focus on our education, stay engaged, and pursue our dreams without the constant worry of financial strain. This support goes beyond just paying for tuition or school supplies. It carries a deeper message that we belong in higher education, that our dreams are valid, and that we have a role to play in shaping the future of our communities and our country. For many minority students, scholarships can be the difference between continuing their education or having to pause their dreams to provide for their families.

2024 HIGHLIGHT, WE CELEBRATED FUTURE TECH’S GROUNDBREAKING
LET'S BUILD THE FUTURE TOGETHER!
There was a significant crowd in attendance for the groundbreaking of the new Future Tech building on August 1, 2024 . CEI has seen phenomenal growth over the past few years making the need for a new energy, innovation, and technology building on campus a necessity. This two-level, 88,000 square foot state-of-the-art building is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. It will have additional classroom space and an area for large gatherings, such as business or civic events, making it
an excellent resource not only for the campus, but for the whole community. Future Tech will house some of the College’s most cutting-edge programs in cybersecurity and energy systems. There are still many opportunities to donate and become a part of history with CEI’s newest addition. Please scan the QR code below to contribute.

WHY WE GIVE TO THE CEI FOUNDATION: "CEI has an impressive track record of meeting the growing demand for a skilled workforce in our area and doing so in an affordable manner without compromising on quality. We all ultimately benefit from a financial contribution to the CEI Foundation because our entire community is touched by the workers that CEI educates, from auto technicians,

FOUNDATION EVENTS REPORT
THE GREAT RACE FOR EDUCATION
July 19, 2024, was the CEI Foundation’s 15th year hosting the Great Race for Education. Eighteen teams converged on The Waterfront at Snake River Landing for the complexities of camaraderie and competition. It was the “Treasure Island Edition” this year and there were new raffle prizes and pirate-themed challenges to be had. Best of all, the Foundation raised $90,000! Ball Ventures came in first place by knocking Teton Toyota, who
took second, from their perch as reigning champion. The Mountain View/Idaho Falls Community Hospitals team placed third. Of particular note, Ball Ventures alone raised nearly $36,000 for the event , a new and incredible record! Thank you!
SCHOLARSHIP CELEBRATION
This year's Scholarship Celebration was held September 26th at the Westbank Convention Center. It was an elegant event where our scholarship donors were able to interact with the students who were scholarship recipients this year through the Foundation’s scholarship program. Faculty and staff were also recognized for their excellence at this event (see p.2).
IDAHO GIVES

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW The Idaho State Legislature passed a bill to create the Idaho LAUNCH grant program. Idaho LAUNCH aims to prepare Idaho’s students for the state’s workforce needs. It provides access to grants for education and training programs in high-demand fields. This is an incentive that will help students graduating high school in 2025 pay 80% of their tuition and fees up to $8,000 at an eligible institution. This will cover most of the cost of tuition for many CEI students who qualify. Only 15% of the CEI Foundation scholarship applicants for the 24-25
academic school year were recent high school graduates. There is still a huge need for scholarship donations to help students who will not be able to access Idaho LAUNCH funds. To find out more information about the program, go to www.nextsteps.idaho.gov
BY GIVING TO THE CEI FOUNDATION YOU CAN EARN AN IDAHO TAX CREDIT DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU COULD EARN A TAX CREDIT ON YOUR IDAHO TAXES JUST BY GIVING TO THE CEI FOUNDATION? Idaho allows you to contribute to certain educational and cultural organizations while reducing the amount of state income tax you owe. This is a tax credit you can take even if you don’t itemize. Contributions are reduced by the value of anything you receive in return such as food, entertainment, or merchandise. You can claim the credit on your Idaho income tax return for the year when you made the contribution(s). For C and S corporations, the law limits the yearly credit to the smallest of: • $5,000 • 10% of total income tax or franchise tax owed for the year. • 50% of the amount donated. For all other businesses, individuals, and entities (such as estates and trusts), the law limits the yearly credit to the smallest of: • $500 per taxpayer ($1,000 total for married individuals filing jointly) • 50% of total income tax (For example, the amount on Form 40, line 21, for Idaho resident individuals) • 50% of the amount donated. Talk to your tax advisor or contact the Idaho State Tax Commission if you have questions about this credit.
