Ken Burnswun documents Stephen Wal- ters and Jodi Smith: A complete timeline of their courtship, shotgun wedding, explosive divorce and awkward subsequent podcast Ken Burnswun returns to PBS this weekend with his latest documentary about the unexpected romance and melodrama between two of Jollywood’s highest acclaimed socialites, a love that would grow into an infamous national scandal. Straight from the tabloids, the stories of Stephen Walters and Jodi Smith are stitched together with footage and commentary describing the thunderstruck public reaction to allegations of fraud at the spam factory, and everything that happened with the Rockettes. We were all there to witness the pony rides and the reworks, the takeover of Moldova, brie y, and the liquid injectics boon that followed. But it was ultimately Smith’s heartbreak and utter destruction of the sprawling family estate that made headlines and was climax of the 1987 biopic about the duo, “Dry Pancakes without Syrup.” Now the two host a cringe-inducing podcast, “Smalters,” where they rehash old memories and generally still clash in annoying fashion. Burnswun implies if it wasn’t for the radioactive clown massacre, the two might still be together.
