Rdr reported after bumping with another rnr at the start & stumbling, the mare then lost ground when receiving some tightening soon after the start. He said that the mare then did not travel well at any stage of the race and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed off. He said that the incidient at the start may have impacted on the mare’s confidence, and he suggested to connections that they consider using head gear on the mare in the future. Near the 1100m was eased to avoid heels. When questioned rider explained that as the eventual winner was shifting ground over the concluding stages he was unable to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race. SEYM 22/10/2023 Eased from the start. Rider reported it was the intention to settle back in the field, however his mount was not suited by the moderate tempo and failed to run on as expected. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. CAUL 14/10/2023 Shortly after start was steadied when tightened for room. Held up from 400m and went to the line not fully tested. R: intention to settle in a handy to midfield position with cover and after meeting with interference shortly after start, settled further back than intended. FLEM 07/10/2023 Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise‑induced pulmonary haemorrhage which may have affected the mare’s performance. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.CAUL 14/10/2023 Shifted behind runners in the early stages. Rdr reported after obtaining a position with cover, the mare commenced to race keenly when positioned close to heels near the 1000m and he was obliged to shift wider to avoid that runner’s heels and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder. He added due to the mare’s racing manners it was unable to finish the race off. KENS 25/10/2023 Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight. K GR 12/10/2023 Commenced awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. BDGO 13/07/2023 Slow to begin. When qst, rdr std having followed the favourite, he was content to trail that runner through in the early stages of the home straight as he anticipated that once into clear running that runner would accelerate and take him into the race. he said, however, when that runner did not quicken as he anticipated approaching the 200m he then was obliged to direct the filly out across heels where the filly was able to gain clear running and closed off well over the concluding stages. Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. Raced wide without cover. CAUL 21/10/2023 Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not racing since January 2023 after suffering hind limb soreness and was passed suitable to race. CAUL 21/10/2023 RR gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages of the event; however, when placed under pressure at the entrance to the straight did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg (3/5) MORP 28/01/2023
