Passing It On
Philanthropy is woven into the fabric of our Compass community. Time and again, our agents show that real estate is only part of the story—at the heart of their work is a deep commitment to service. Whether supporting women in recovery, children entering foster care, or organizations creating meaningful experiences for kids, our agents are making a lasting impact far beyond the closing table.
Kelly’s commitment has also shaped her family’s outlook on service. Both of her sons chose Dove as the focus for their Eagle Scout projects. “It was powerful for them to meet women in recovery,” she recalls. “One woman hadn’t seen her child since they were an infant. My boys couldn’t believe that reality—but it opened their eyes to why this work matters.”
A Cause Close to Home: Kelly Todd’s Heart for Dove Recovery House
For Kelly, those moments are reminders that philanthropy is more than financial—it’s relational, transformative, and generational.
For Kelly Todd , philanthropy isn’t just about giving—it’s about living a life that leaves a mark. While she supports many causes across Central Indiana, one stands out as deeply personal: Dove Recovery House, the state’s largest recovery program for women battling substance use disorder. Dove provides free housing, therapy, peer support, and job placement assistance to women who are rebuilding their lives. The results speak for themselves: 78% of women discharged leave sober, 75% transition to safe housing, 80% remain engaged with recovery specialists, and 93% walk away with healthcare coverage and no new criminal record. “Addiction doesn’t discriminate,” Kelly shares. “There’s a stigma that people struggling with substance abuse must come from a certain background. But my mom was a nurse and a lifelong recovering addict. I often wonder how different her life—and our family’s—could have been if a place like Dove had existed for her.” Her connection runs even deeper. Kelly’s sister is also a recovering addict, making Dove’s mission one that touches every corner of her family. “This isn’t just about helping one woman,” she says. “It’s about changing generations. Their children, their parents, their siblings—it impacts everyone.”
A Path to Giving
When asked what advice she’d offer to others looking to give back, Kelly is clear:
“Find what breaks your heart and respond to that. True impact comes when your giving is personal.”
Her journey began with the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, which exposed her to nonprofits across the state, including Dove. That experience shifted her from one-off donations to impactful giving—supporting organizations in ways they truly need, whether through finances, supplies, or simply amplifying their voices. Her intentional approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. Recently, Kelly was invited to join the Board of Directors at Dove Recovery House. “I didn’t seek it out,” she says. “But they saw my involvement and passion, and that’s all it really takes—showing up consistently.”
More Than Money
Kelly also reminds others that philanthropy isn’t about having millions to donate. “Not everyone can give big checks,”
