had one Son. But through the Gos pel alone can we be bom again, and be made the children of God. The teaching of Christ concerning God as Father is one of the precious things in this Book of books. Two verses in John speak plainly on this subject: “As many as received him [Christ], to them gave he power to be come the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). “Ye [Pharisees] are of your father the devil” (John 8:44). QUE.: Why did God reject Gain’ s offering, and accept Abel’s? Because Cain brought a bloodless sacrifice, in spite of the fact that God had taught him that “without shed ding of blood is no remission” of sin (Heb. 9:22). Abel, on the other hand, brought “the firstlings of his flock” (Gen. 4:4), a blood sacrifice, that showed his faith in the coming of Christ, “the Lamb of God, which tak- eth away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Hebrews 11:4 leaves no room for doubt; for there we read that “by faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain.” And in Hebrews 12:24 the blood of Jesus is called “the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Here the type is definitely ex plained. Every Old Testament saint is in Heaven today because he believed God’s promises—and they were many, given in plain statement, in shadow, and in type—that the only Redeemer was to come to die for a sinful world. And every lost soul of every age will be in hell because he spurned God’s only way of salvation, which is the way of the Cross. “There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). ^ QUE.: Does Matt. 2 8 :1 9 re fer to the baptism with the Holy Spirit, or to water baptism? “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” This verse refers to water baptism. Men do not baptize with the Holy Spirit; only God can do this; and He does it when the sinner is saved. USE STANDARD’S; • True-to-the-Bible Sunday School Material They’re ALL Bible! EvangeliStic. Most Fasc inat ing! “ Can’t get anything out o f studying the Bible.” Is that what YOU say? That’s what Dr. Brooks used to say before he came to know that the finest commentary on the Bible is the Bible itself. That thrilling discovery which led him into years of intensive study with concordances and topical text books, resulted in the preparation of simple Bible courses making all the joys he found available to the ordinary student who has neither the tifhe nor energy to do such research work. And here it is, in neatly printed, low price lesson books— all in simple question form, illuminating references cited for the answers and blank spaces to record your own conclusions. The student is thrilled in his spare moments, to find himself writing a commentary with a “ Thus saith the Lord” for every statement. Thousands witness to the fascination of the method, the enrichment of their lives. Just a Bible and a pen— they’re your only needed tools. Here are the available lesson books (special rates to classes). FOR BEGINNERS: Junior Work, 25c; Young Believers, 25c; Christian Character, 25c; Bible Marking, 25c; Studies in John’s Gospels, 20c.
