The Florida dorm life helped us grow close to our roommates and the rest of the students because we were all in the same building, just down the hall. We learned to accept and encourage one another when times were tough. Also, the DC’s and Deans were close at hand and available for advice during any crisis. Another great thing was having the RA’s closer together because they were able to learn from one another. Not to mention, we had a lot of “required” fun activities, like the Fall Fun Fest with pumpkin carving and going swimming in the pool during winter; but who could forget the Christmas and Valentine’s Banquets, the Luau, and the Dorm Wars? We had plenty of crazy student-led soccer and football games and “Newby-Paloozas”, but we learned to work together too. There were many given opportunities to experience serving in a variety of areas, that taught us to the value of not expecting anything in return. We discovered accountability as well, with a staff that was guiding us how to do work with the right attitude. Word of Life, Florida was also very stretching during the gospel productions when we all changed our service assignments. Students were either serving with the Cast on stage, or on the Support Team providing meals to visitors, cleaning the guest rooms and supplying for the rest of the students. Being at the Bl in Florida really taught us the purpose and meaning in life which is to glorify God in all we say and do.
