Resident Assistants
When the first day of school began, and I met the guys moving into my dorm, each with different personalities, attitudes, backgrounds, and personal experiences, I knew that I was in for a task that I could never handle apart from the strength that is given to me by God. Even before school started Mr. Hobbs told us that we would never benefit a person’s life if we did not get involved in helping them with their personal problems. At that moment I decided that I would invest my time and efforts wherever I found an opportunity to better someone for the Lord . . . (even thse outside of my own dorm, as many of you know). While in the service I learned an important principle — that discipline works, whether we like it or not. I also know that if we can’t follow basic rules here at WOLBI we won’t be able to follow God’s standards when we are once again out in the wicked world where our adversay stalks. I am tough with all the guys in my dorm, not because I don’t like them (as some of them accuse me of), but because often I see them heading down a road I once was on. I love each one and if I can benefit one of them in the future by confronting a problem now I will. I don’t believe in compromise and I want to please God by the way I handle situations . . . Not my follow students. When I see a person change their ways and grow closer to the Lord all the struggles I ever faced with them was worth it. No R.A. is out to make enemies, just to better equip the students to face situations they will encounter in their lives. — Aaron Shaw
