Word of Life Bible Institute Yearbook 1992

A blanket of smog and dust hovered over filthy New York City. A few nervous coughs signaled we were entering a battle zone and a week we would never forget. Satan had an unbreakable stronghold on this city with deception and lust. However, we held the keys to freedom, to everlasting life, the secrets to loosen the chains of bondage that entrapped the lives of so many. This city cried out for leadership and love and the task was ours, with all boldness we pressed forward with a compassion for lost souls. It takes compassion to put love into action and every opportunity the good Lord gave us was siezed upon with thanksgiving. The reality of life was opened to our eyes. Drunks and traf fickers and hard crack cases were numerous. Sad, milky brown eyes from drinking into old age invoked pity and an even greater desire to make known Jesus Christ. Flames that burned inside of us were now roaring fires, seeking desparately more fuel to grow upon. Material blessings in life seemed so pointless, all per sonal worries and heartaches were counted as nothing, compared with the importance of tell ing the lost about our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Each night we grew closer together, uplifting one another with loving encouragement to con tinue on. Sadly, the week ended and as tears were shed, we rejoiced in the Lord. We had felt the heat, we had felt the fire of a city caged behind barbed wire. Millions of hearts with only one desire. But now a flicker of light shines among darkness. The harvest did not fail. -Rod Cameron
