When I came to Word of Life, I was only using it as an escape. I started out in STC in Florida after hitting rock bottom at home. It was already past the deadline to start STC but I had sent an e-mail to Florida asking them to put me anywhere. They had just lost a wait staff girl in the Conference Center, so I quit my job, packed my things and was off to Florida. When I arrived in Florida I felt out of place, but the girls down there took me in and broke down all of my barriers I had built. Through the testimonies of my amazing friends, I accepted Christ. I worked that whole summer and God tried to start working on me, but I couldn’t let go of my old life. I left STC with a whole bunch of great friends and a small relationship with Goa, but when I got home, I was right back where I started. I began working again trying to stay out of trouble, but I was trying to ao it on my own strength. My mom decided to visit some family in NY and wanted me to visit the BI. At this time I had decided I wanted to be free to do my own thing. But God softened my heart and my mom was able to talk me into going to the BI. My dad didn’t support my decision to go, so my mom and I were scurrying around trying to'pull the money together. Again, I quit my job, packed my stuff and was off to New York. Since I have been at Word of Life, God has taken me and stretched me farther than I have ever been. Through campus life and snow camp, I have learned a load about the Word of God and how it can be applied to everyday life. My relationship with God is solid and still growing. The future is up in the air but I know that I want to be a teacher since I already have my credentials. I’m feeling very called to Jamaica so I may be soaking up the sun and bringing the gospel to a nation with gangs and violence.
