y journey to Christ began in a Christian
home. I have five siblings (four brothers and a sister) and like clockwork every Sunday the whole family dressed up in our finest clothes and headed to church. My earliest memories are of attending a different church every week.
My parents were looking for a church that taught the Bible clearly and consistently. We did not find such a church until I was a young teenager. Unfortunately that church was so small that it was basically our family and several older couples. This may account for my cynicism and rebellion throughout my high school years. At 19, however, I realized my sinful condition and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I drifted in my spiritual life for the next four years but eventually realized that I knew next to nothing about the Bible and began to look for a Bible College. A friend and mentor gave me a catalog for Word of Life Bible Institute and I was immediately attracted to the program. I came to the Bible Institute in 1973 with a simple one year commitment to study the Bible. During that year I made a commitment to do whatever God desired of me. He soon gave me a passion for teaching the Word. That commitment led me to Bible school, seminary and eventually back to the Bible Institute. I met my future wife at the Bible Institute and we were married after my junior year at Tennessee Temple University (1975). The Lord has blessed us with four children (all graduates of the Bible Institute) and four grandsons (future students of the Bible Institute). It has been my privilege for the last 30 years to teach young men and women here at Word of Life. It has been my constant prayer that God will use me to give the same passion to my charges that was given to me during my time as a student.
