1 Corinthians 9:25-27, “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize!’ Striving for that crown that lasts forever in order to humbly lay it at the Lord's feet is the goal of the sports ministry team at Word of Life Bible Institute. On the whole, sports can translate into a spectacular evangelism tool, with its popularity in the media; the testimony of a cool attitude on the court is almost unheard of, whether in basketball, soccer, volleyball, or cross country. Keeping a level head in the sport can lead to an open door into a students spiritual life as well as keep us from being disqualified in our own walks. This is the basic idea behind intercollegiate sports here at WOLBI. 58
