Being on the women’s basketball team this year has been an awesome experience. I really enjoyed getting to know the other girls and using basketball as a tool for ministry. We are a close group of girls, and I love the jokes and fun that we can all have together. Whether it is through group discussions on anger or a Bible study on respectable sins, the girls on the team have really encouraged me to grow in the Lord. I have also been encouraged by the honesty and transparency of the girls on the team. I know that I can go to anyone on
the team, share my heart and be encouraged by prayer. Playing basketball against secular schools is always challenging. There is so much contact on the court, and keeping a godly testimony can only be done through the Lordfe strength. We always pray with the teams afterwards, and sometimes the other team will open up and we have opportunities to share the gospel. This year one girl made a profession of faith! Even though only one girl made a profession of faith, the seed of the gospel was planted in many of the hearts of those girls. I wouldn’t trade being on the basketball team for anything because it has shown me that even on the court, Christ can be glorified in our actions and our attitudes. ~ Elizabeth Sewall 62
