F or Missions Reality, I was given the opportunity to minister with Florida Local Church Missionaries Chris Finchum, Steve Gledhill, and Josh Ely for ten days. Kevin Artan and I had an incredible time seeing what these guys do. I had the opportunity to help with many different minstry outreach events and ask a ton of questions. I counseled 3 kids at the FASCAR event who made decisions for Christ, and I was also able to lead a young man named John to Christ at the STORM event. One of the coolest things Kevin and I were able to do was sit in on an “Advisory Board)’ which was about 20 men (youth pastors and missionaries) in a room, sitting around a table, talking about the ministry, sharing prayer requests, and giving advice on how to better minister to and with people. Now,
as a result of this trip, I’ve learned a ton about the ministry, and I’ve decided to attend IDP in the fall, so that I can be a Local Church Missionary as well. 'Jonathan Duckett
T he Open Air Evangelism (OAE) team went to New York City, getting out into the streets to share the Word. Everyday the team would go out for street evangelism, handing out tracts and using paint boards to interest the crowds. They worked with different cultures ranging from Muslim
to Jewish people groups. Mollie Burke said that the hardest part of the trip for her was, “Not to be selfish. Itte so easy to think about yourself... Itte challenging to have a real burden for the lost. It is not about us, itte about serving the Lord!’ Facing the hurting in such a lost city must have been a challenge. On one particular day, the team stood outside a prolife ministry and talked to women who were about to have an abortion. The team worked together, not only in helping one another but also in encouraging believers that they just met. “Our goal every time we left that church was to evangelize the lost and build up the saints”Jeff Haines said about his experience in the Big Apple. With unique experiences, like witnessing on the Staten Island Ferry and visiting Central Park, the OAE team did an incredible job ministering in the heart of NYC.
