HEALTHY YUCAIPA COMMITTEE The Committee is composed of seven members (five members appointed by the Mayor and each Councilmember and two members appointed by the City Council at-large). The Healthy Yucaipa Committee shall have the option to recommend an eighth member for appointment by the City Council as a non-voting youth member to the Committee. Two City Councilmembers will be appointed to serve as non-voting liaisons to the Healthy Yucaipa Committee. Each committee member’s term (at-large and individual Councilmember appointments) shall run consistent with the general municipal election and shall be for two-years from January 1 to January 1. The student member serves a single ten month term, from September through June.

The Healthy Yucaipa Committee’s primary responsibilities include: • Acting in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all other policy matters pertaining to the Healthy Yucaipa Committee • Promoting community health • Reviewing proposals for programs, projects and facilities • Assisting in supporting one of the goals of the Youth Advisory Committee, which is to promote healthy guidelines and choices for youth Regular meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month.

TRAILS AND OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE On Saturday, August 14, the City of Yucaipa and Trails and Open Space Committee opened the much anticipated Wildwood Mountain Bike Track. The single track trail is dedicated to mountain bikes and was prioritized by city council as part of the fiscal year 2018/2019 Goals and Objectives process. The mountain bike course is located at 36749 Wildwood Canyon Rd, on a 33-acre city owned property located just south of Wildwood City Park.

The Take-a-Hike program also recognizes regular hikers. Hikers who complete six hikes receive a customized ball cap with the City of Yucaipa logo and “Trails & Open Space” additionally embroidered. An additional six hikes earn a custom lapel pin featuring an iconic Yucaipa image, such as a coastal oak tree or apple tree, the latter emblematic of the nearby Oak Glen apple-growing community. Canines who complete six hikes with their human companions win a custom bandana. The Yucaipa Trails and Open Space Committee is comprised of volunteers who are dedicated to keeping the unique natural environments of the city accessible for recreational hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. Hikers are encouraged to bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. Dogs on leash are permitted.

The committee hosts free monthly hikes - generally between 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 miles in length - to familiarize members of the public with some of the city’s 45 miles of multi-use trails. Four hikes remain in the 2022 schedule of the Yucaipa Trails & Open Space Committee's Take-a-Hike program. Sept. 10, 8 a.m. – Regional Park Loop, beginning at the Yucaipa Community Park, 34900 Oak Glen Road. Oct. 8, 8 a.m. – Wildwood Canyon State Park, Water Canyon Trail, 12241 Canyon Drive. Nov. 12, 9 a.m. – Three Hawks Trail, Crafton Hills Open Space Conservancy, trailhead parking on Campus Drive, Crafton Hills College. Dec. 10, 9 a.m. – El Dorado Ranch Park, 37216 Oak Glen Road. The remaining hikes for 2022 are as follows:
