A WOLBI Baptism
Immediately after class on May 24th, the entire B.I. class filed out of Council Hall to join the SYM/SME class at the water's edge. Seventeen B.I and SYM/SME students were scheduled to be baptized. George Theis spoke for a few minutes on the ordinance of Baptism, then the stu dents joined hands and stepped into the frigid waters of Schroon Lake. Once waist high, they waited as Tom Davis and Joe Jordan began immers ing brothers and sisters in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Afterwards, George Theis in vited others to come forward and be baptized. It wasn't until he had fin ished praying that Rick Olson stepped forward asking to be bap tized. Twenty-seven others followed suit, girls in aresses, and guys in ties. Mr. Davis remarked on the unique ness of the service — something to which those twenty-eight students can testify.
Top: There were many last-minute decisions for baptism. Above: It was a little difficult for the girls in dresses. Above right: Several students look on in frigid anticipation. Right: Joe Jordan immerses one more very cold student.
