and CEO of the Lyttelton Port Company, overseeing post-quake reconstruction of the port and managing its stakeholders, we have been fortunate to have his insights on a Board faced with similar decisions. We will thank Peter officially at the February AGM, and conduct a search for his replacement when the Board signals the skill set it requires to complement those of the current Fellows. Thank you I wish to thank the regional branch committees for their time and active involvement with the various reports in this Quadrangle. And thanks, also, to the committee in Christchurch: Vice President Richard Polson (11785), Treasurer Mac Bolderston (13962), Convenor of Lunches Sam Cowdy (12018) and Andrew Springford (13478), Angus Dysart-Paul (14434), Edward Glubb (12797), and Nick Harvey (11731). With an average age of 36, it is a dynamic unit.

committee meetings are attended by both our appointed Board members and the Executive Principal. We are also digitally connected, with the CCOBA website integrated within the school’s website, including the member directory web search function at https://christscollege.com/old- boys/member-directory/ The realignment of resources, with all areas concerned with promoting and advancing the interests of the school now under the umbrella of Advancement, mirrors the path of a College student from pre- enrolment, through school, and to becoming an Old Boy. Naturally, the CCOBA is an important part of this process and it is in our interests to integrate fully with the Advancement office. This will allow the CCOBA to ensure the issues that matter most to Old Boys are heard. We will also change the title – CCOBA Secretary seems dated, and we will adapt and adopt best practice from similar institutions around the world. CCOBA Secretary Justine Nicholl resigns After eight years, CCOBA Secretary Justine Nicholl will step down in December. Justine has worked tirelessly for the Association in all areas. Her infectious energy and dynamic style have delivered an intense calendar of events and publications year after year, and she has worked with four CCOBA Presidents in her time. The office has been run very efficiently over the course of her tenure – from three locations, outside the gates and within – using all manner of communication techniques to reach our diverse alumni, from 18-year-old YOBs through to our much older members. Justine leaves at the end of the year with our best wishes, having helped cement the CCOBA in the heart of the school.

We have begun the recruitment process for her successor. Alumni and event management skills will be high among the criteria. Watch e-Quad for further announcements. Alumni posters and Art Collection Another set of posters will be revealed towards the end of the year, highlighting the achievements of four Old Boys from within our illustrious alumni. Curator of the CCOBA Art Collection James Blackie (11684) has commissioned Toby Raine (12100) to produce a work for gifting to the school in November. Long Lunch season A number of Long Lunches are planned in various locations. The Sydney lunch in November is a long enduring event, while other branches are just starting out or rekindling. Christchurch will host its third in November, and there is talk of holding one in Auckland in February. It would be presumptuous to call it the inaugural, because research may show there was a sequence a few decades ago. When the announcement comes, spread the word and book early. Finances Thanks to the oversight of Mac Bolderston (13962) CCOBA finances are running well. The investment fund is approaching $3 million, with returns above 8% to help fund the office, event administration and the five scholarships we will be supporting next year. Full details will be available at the AGM. Peter Davie (8882) – to retire as a Board Fellow The CCOBA appointed Fellow Peter Davie has served two terms on the College Board of Governors since February 2012. As a recent parent, Old Boy
