Chills and Thrills Some may ask how temperatures of SO below zero, blizzards bringing 36 inches of snow and entire basketball courts turned into sheer ice can be used as an effective means ol ministry. The Answer: Word of Life Snow Camp. Each weekend o( winter quarter, 400 campers ventured to the snowy Adirondacks from all over the LI.S. for a jam-packed weekend of fun in the snow. As the number of bodies on campus nearly doubled, the hours ol sleep received by each student-converted-snow- camp-counselor takes a major plunge. While kitchen crews work double time and hockey boys gear themselves to work till midnight, counselors spend 48 energy- packed, non-stop hours pouring their hearts into the lives of their campers. Any ordinary group of students balancing 8 weekends of snow camp along with the usual week of classes, home work and ministry would probably be spent even before week 3 rolled around. Yet, as servants of an almighty and amazing Heavenly Father, each and every one of the students were empowered to run the race marked out for us and hit the finish line running. So, despite a few broken bones and frost bitten toes, each one of us came to recognize God’s incredible hand in creating 8 unforgettable, life changing, memory making weekends.
