Charlotte, North Carolina Though most of us at Word of Life can attest to the amazing vocal abilities of this young lady, our students and staff make up one of smallest groups she has ever sung in front of!! As the official vocalist of the national Anthem for the Elizabeth Dole Senatorial Campaign, Ms. Christina Arrington has traveled her home state of North Carolina blessing thousands through her powerful voice! Completing the first year course at the Bible Institute, Christina can attest to the victorious provision of Christ in her life. Growing up in North Carolina, Christina was saved at the age of five along with her older brother Jeffrey. With two older brothers and two younger sisters, Christina and her brother were the first to put their trust in Christ. As it wasn’t until seven years later that the rest of her siblings came to know Christ personally, Christina realized the beautiful blessing she’d received in being able to attend church together with her entire family. Though her elementary and high school years brought a number of trying circumstances and tough decisions, Christina rededicated her life to Christ in the summer of her Junior Year. During her Senior Year, God moved mightily in her life. It was then that Christina truly began to appreciate the prayers of her parents and the encouragement of fellow believers! Adding to the excitement of her senior year was the offer to sing in Elizabeth Dole’s campaign, an opportunity she was honored to take hold of and one through which her joy for Christ was undoubtedly displayed. Along with the many other things in which she finds enjoyment, such as writing poetry, playing the piano, and writing music, Christina has truly enjoyed growing in the Lord during her first year at Word of Life. With plans to attend Philadelphia Bible University, Christina desires both to pursue a degree in counseling and to use her gifts of writing and song in an effective way for the Lord. In striving to live for Christ and glorify Him in her daily walk, she poses both to herself and to her fellow students a simple question: Is what you are doing making your life better for Elim? What an honor to know that we have Christina with us “...on the victory side.”

A family who serves God is influential in developing young lives and teaching then to follow Christ; Elysia Fowlkes was raised in such a family. Elysiais from Rome, Georgia, with her family consisting of her father, mother, two brothers and a sister. Her dad has been a preacher and her mom has served alongside him for as long as she can remember. Elysia accepted Christ as her Savior when she was seven years old after family devotions. Recently she has been shown God's faithfulness in awesome ways. Before she came to the Bible Institute she did not have any money to pay for the school bill. Two weeks before she left she found out that every penny was paid for by grants and friends of the family. Elysia continues to grow in the grace and the know ledge of her Lord and Savior. God has continued to work in her life during her stay at the Bible Institute by answering her prayers and stretching her faith. In the future Elysia would like to work with teenagers and kids; it is her heart's desire to show them Jesus. Elysia claims Luke 14:1 -4 as her favorite verse because it reminds her how much God loves her. She knows that while she is here on earth serving Him, He is in heaven preparing a place for her! She looks to her future home in heaven with her Father as she is every day “living on the victory side.”
