Word of Life Bible Institute Yearbook 2003

shymon

Shymon was raised in Israel with a background as a European Jew. Although not raised in a Christian family, he knows Christ's work is evidenced in his life. Shymon is the only believer in his family and prays every day for their salvation. Being able to speak Spanish fluently, he has been able to use his gifts and talents for the Lord by helping missionaries around the world. Shymon has had the opportunity to travel to both America and the Holy Land using the skills that the Lord has provided. Shymon's soul desire is to know God's will for his life and to better serve Christ with his entire life. He has learned that if you "give everything to the Almighty, you won't be disappointed." Shymon knows that by being where God wants him to be, he is "setting his mind on things above."

THE SOLID ROCK Mayumi sits with some friends from Japan on Word of Life Island. Mayumi began a brand new life after accepting Christ that summer. The Island is an amazing opportunity for ministry that is available to WOLBI students.

mayumim IBARAKI, JAPAN "I think you have to experience it and when you do, you’ll feel as Mayumi, it is life changingf”

Word of Life has an amazing ministry in Japan and also with Japanese young people in the United States. This is proven by the personal testimony of second year student, Mayumi Motochi. Mayumi was born and raised in Ibaraki, Japan, along with her brother and parents, all unsaved. A few years ago she had the opportunity of coming to WOL Island and that summer she trusted Christ. Her heart is here because it was her place of salvation and she also feels far away from her family who have rejected Christ out of pride. She attended WOLBI in the Philippines in order to study both the Bible and English. She then decided to come to the Bible Institute in New York to build a Christian foundation in her life. Mayumi has many strong, Christian relationships which have helped her learn how to better glorify God. Knowing that God needs to receive glory from all aspects of our lives, Mayumi uses soccer to witness by having a

sportsmanlike and joyful attitude. These past two years have changed her life so much that she can hardly express it in words. She says, “nothing I can say could tell you how much I learned and how I have grown these two years past!" Mayumi knows that the best way to glorify God is by “setting her mind on things above...”
