amyhartman LAKE CITY, COLORADO

Not many get the opportunity to grow up the way Amy Hartman did. How many of us can say we spent our childhood among the Rocky Mountains rock climbing flyfishing, hiking or.scooping ice cream? Amy’s parents run a old fashioned soda fountain in the heart of a small tourist town. From the day Amy was able to see over the counter she became what they refer to as a “soda jerk.” Lake City is a small town, boasting a population of about 450 year round residents, but it’s a place where one can always feel welcome. Being homeschooled offered the chance for Amy to spend valuable time with her family, such as month long road trips touring the US. This past winter she was also able to spend some time in New Zealand working with kids at a Christian camp where she helped in a variety of ways.

“rejoice always.”

Definately not your average girl, Amy is one that is often found up trees and collecting little nature tidbits (in her barefeet of course)--only to the amusement of those that know her here at WOLBI.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH Where the moutains truely are their backyard, the Harman’s home is situated at 9,000 ft in the Rockies.

SODA JERKS Amy is pictured here with her big brother, Jason, working in the family soda fountain-the San Juan Soda Co.

kerstinweber VIENNA, AUSTRIA

Kristin is a free-spirited girl who loves to laugh and joke around. Living in Europe has given her the opportunity to travel and she loves getting to know about different cultures. Her biggest adventure was traveling to the U.S. and attending Word of Life Bible Institute. Kristin has always dreamed of living in the States for a year and was thrilled at the opportunity to gain extensive Bible knowledge while learning more about herself and another culture. Since coming overseas in September, Kristin has learned many valuable lessons. She now takes her trials along with her triumphs and says, "throw away all your worries and start trusting in the Lord because He knows what is good for you and He will answer all of your prayers." Kristin has learned that if you want to conquer life's trials you must first, "set your mind on things above...".

“never stop trusting in the Lord and stand up for what is right, even if you are standing alone"

Although she is from Austria, she does not know how to yodel. Kristen was born and raised in Vienna with her parents and two sisters. Since Austria is a predominantly Catholic country, her family attended the local Catholic church until they were invited to an evangelical church where they have attended ever since.

TOGETHER LIKE HORSE AND CARRIAGE To many tourists the fiaker is the exciting way to get around Vienna, but to Kersitin it’s simply a mode of trasporation.
