Missions Reality: France Before leaving, I was told that France was a predominantly Catholic country. Having just taken Roman Catholic Evangelism, I figured that I could handle witnessing in France. However, it was not as easy as I had expected. Catholicism is more a ritual in France than a religion and many French people do not even believe in God and certainly do not want you telling them they should. This was never more prevalent to me than when we did OAE outside of Notre Dame in Paris. After one meeting, the authorities told us we could not speak the name of God or mention our faith in that or any other park in Paris. We were allowed to sing, so we put on a concert. I was discouraged at not being able to go one on one with people. That’s when one of the missionaries turned to me and said, “You are on Missions Reality; this is reality in France” Four people were saved on our trip, and I returned challenged to use my freedom to share my faith. M y favorite part of the entire trip was having the opportunity to visit men from West Africa who decided to leave their families in Africa, in order to make money in France to support them. We enjoyed eating with them and then having an opportunity to give them videos of the good news of Jesus Christ in their native languages. I was greatly impacted by their desire to know more about our Lord and to share it with their friends and family back in Africa. ” M aghen G o o dm a n Missions Reality Ministry | 91
