Most questions were answered by a series of “Sunday school” answers such as “Jesus”, “God”, and even, “the fruit of the Spirit”. Then Mrs. Armstrong asked a tough one, “Say your mom gave you money to go to the store to buy milk and also a candy bar. You were walking to the store and got sidetracked by the ice cream parlor. You went in and spent all of the money! What would you say to your mom?” One of the youngest girls, Jenna, got really excited and began waving both her hands to get Mrs. Armstrongs attention. Public School Release Time is a unique opportunity that five students are involved in. Each Thursday, Leigha Massie, Jaime Goodrow, Justin Elam, Frank Lockerman, and Megan Livingston head to Schroon Lake Central School to help two volunteer ladies with a group of about fifteen elementary school kids in their after school program from 2:00-4:00. Release Time involves song time, Bible lessons, games, role-plays, and one of my favorites... snacks! The kids we minister to are such a blessing! The five of us student volunteers come back each Thursday with funny sayings that we have heard from the kids. One of my favorite memories has to be the first time we helped out with Release Time.
