Excitement! Activity! And LOTS of teens! On March 3rd, 2001, buses and vans from eleven different local churches rolled in to the Word of Life parking lots. Teens came to the campus to play in the basketball and volleyball competitions, climb the climbing tower, show their skills on the skate ramps, and hang out in the pool. Basketball competitions began at 10:00 a.m. along with the other activities for the non-basketball players. Lunch was served at the Coke cart where the finest of hot dogs were distributed to the starving athletes. Volleyball tournaments began immediately after lunch. Some BI students even got a piece of the action as some churches needed extra players. The day climaxed as we held our very first youth meeting in the new George Theis Assembly Center. Teens and students sat on the floor as Rich Andrews promoted the youth camp. Prizes were given out (WOL Tennis Camp?!) and one lucky guy even won a free week at camp! Things quieted down as Tom Phillips opened up the Word of God. He illustrated to the audience that, uthe gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it</> Matthew 7: 13-14. He asked the teens, uWhich road are you on?</> Thirteen teens responded when the invitation to salvation was given. What an incredible way to break in the new classroom and youth camp auditorium! When the soda cans were picked up and the climbing ropes were put away, students looked back at the day with incredible satisfaction, knowing that all of their hard work had been well worth it. Thirteen teens left that day as heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven! Thirteen brothers and sisters in Christ had come. It may have been called March MADNESS, but the only anger that existed that day was the enemy’s madness at the Lord’s incredible victory! Rebecca Johnson
