Arctic Extravaganza 2001
Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:3-4
a On Friday, January 12th, the first snow campers of the winter quarter 2001 arrived on the WOLBI campus. Counselors waited nervously in Jack's to meet their campers while the WTC and WPC staffs worked feverishly to make everything ready in time. By the Friday evening meeting, the crowd had livened up considerably. Fears of what the weekend may hold changed into excitement as the non-stop activities began. For 9 weekends, students and staff kept up this fast-paced schedule. From Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, the WOLBI campus transformed into an Arctic Extravaganza including tubing, snowmobiling, trail rides, outdoor and indoor sports, the ice chute, dog sled rides and more! The WOL.BI students had an opportunity to teach their campers on several occasions. These included devotions and Quiet Lime; the Saturday morning seminar on temptation; and Sunday school, where counselors focused on 2 Timothy 2:3-4, and how to become a good soldier of Jesus Christ. This opportunity to minister to others using the knowledge gained while at WOLBI was an incomparable experience. The snow camp experience was a time of considerable growth for all students. Everyone had their chance to counsel a group of teenagers for a weekend or two, and this experience never left the counselor unchanged. The testimonies of salvation and dedication decisions made by campers encouraged the entire student body. The counselors who took part in these life-changing decisions will always remember the strength God provided on these draining, yet spiritually enriching weekends. Rachel Hasan
