Serving Christ In the fall of 2000, WOLB1 was able to expand its athletic ministry by adding women’s volleyball. The team consisted of 10 enthusiastic young women who God blessed with athletic talent and the passion to serve Him with it. Mrs. Rachel Forman took on the role of coach for the team. Since it was the first season for volleyball at WOLBI, the team only played two official games and two scrimmages. But, despite the lack of competition, the team still practiced hard and was able to witness to the teams they played against after the games. Although no
official decisions were made, many seeds were planted and phone numbers exchanged. The team also hosted a Christian high school volleyball tournament and clinic in October and was able to counsel the teams that came in for the weekend. As with every team sport, unity is important, on and off the court. In order to keep this unity as sisters-in-Christ, the volleyball team met during class breaks to pray together. They caught the vision of reaching others for Christ through the avenue of volleyball and what it means to serve Christ. Samantha Fike
