Valentine’s Banquet One rainy Monday, the staff and student council lock ed the Dining Hall doors and began to transform it into "Mediterranean Nights.” Meanwhile, on one end of the campus, the girls were putting on beautiful dresses and styling each other’s hair; the guys bought bouquets and corsages and waited. At 5:30 p.m., the rain turned to sunny skies as groups and dates met outside the Commons building. Flowers and compliments were exchanged as they entered the former classroom to partake of appetizers, mingleand look at the display of staff wedding pictures. At 6:00 p.m., the hostesses opened the Dining Hall to reveal a transformed Dining Hall lit in a soft glow by
walls lined with white lights, lamps in the corners and candles on the table. On the platform was a trellis wound with lights, ivy and gossamer. As the students entered, Harry Bollback softly played the beautifully decorated piano. The students and staff were seated at table dec orated in huntergreen, burgundy and white. The Mediterranean food was spectacular. After the meal, Tom Phillips led the students in a few choruses, Bump Galleta and Brian Carney played a game of Bible Trivia, and Ben Martin and James Knight sang special music. That night Rich McGhee challenged the students to be honest, keep current and act Biblically A challenge that must be practiced for years to come.
