Passion Piay Driving... After a gruelling day and a half on the road, the NY Collegians arrived in Florida. Within hours, some cast members were in practice sessions. Welcome to the crazy, exhausting schedule of the Passion Play. Five days and nine rehearsals later, the curtains opened on the First performance. For the audience, the drama followed the last week of Christ’s life from Peter’s perspective. For the cast, howev-
er, it was much more. They threw themselves into thei ministry. Emotions became real. Lines became life. Pei haps the hardest scene to portray was the crucifixior This scene lasted half an hour and was physically an emotionally draining. “One night. . .1 was pushed fror behind by a Roman guard. . .suddenly it was all real, described Maria Delanoy, who played a mourner. Afte the play, many of the cast would sit backstage and weej All were impacted by th intensity of the scene.
The whole aim of the pla was summed up by Nicodt mus, (Jonathan Strayer), a he knelt at the foot of th cross and cried out in repen ance to his Lord and Savio That cry was echoed by man in the audience when they n sponded to the invitation a the end. Of the 9,716 peopl who attended the Passio Play, 291 accepted Jesus a their personal Savior. Pc these people, the wonder c the Passion Play will last rest of their lives. — Fisher
