Word of Life Bible Institute Yearbook 2000

Second Tear Vocal Ensemble Quite often throughout the school year a group of eight second year students would get up on the stage and sing. Most people knew them as the Second Year Vocal En semble (or SYVE), but they were so much more than just that. Every Tuesday and Thursday, a small group of people could be seen by the Administration building as they met to go to the Family Camp Ground for rehearsal. When they got there they were no longer a group of “people singing,” they were a group of friends who grew

closer as the year wound on. The team leader, Joe, beg; practices with a small sharing time where they all got the focus on God. After a word of prayer they began warmii up and going over various songs. It may have take over; hour to get through one song, but in the end it was ; worth it. As they went to different churches around Ne York, no matter how big or small they were, the SYV always looked for opportunities to minister to people ai: serve God in any way. — Joanna Morton

As they gather around in a cir cle the SYVE warms up usually by singing “aca-poco” as Dave, Andy or Joe lead.

Back row from left to right: Kenny Zimmerman, Dave Carter, Andy Mater, Jordan Wertz, Joe Yates. Front row: Bonnie Colwell, Melanie O’Neill, Stefanie Nelson, Bekah Edilson

Above: Even though many times he was not seen, Dave was always there with his tech skills. He was also the back up singer for all of the guy parts.

No matter where they were singing, whether it was at a church, the Inn for a Senior Class Trip, Camp or a chapel, the SYVE always considered it a priviledge to stand in front of a group of people lift their voices up to the Lord.
