S.Y.M.E.

“It was somewhat diffi cult adjusting to the new schedule and the dorm set-up, but overall, I loved it. We had incredible min istry opportunities!” (Reenie Dorsey) “Because of the fact that the S.Y.M.E. was so much smaller we grew ex tremely close,” said Becky Dean. Morning Harris com mented, “In Florida we were able to relax, but at the same time exercise all we learned and studied at the B.I.” Each student whose opinion we asked for had similar experiences and many exciting stories to tell.

Picture, if you will, for a moment: The sound of splashing water, of rus tling palm branches in the warm breeze, of laughter and fun-filled conversa tion, the feel of warm ground underneath bare feet, and the sun beating down on tan skin. What scene is being described? It is an S.Y.M.E. student lounging by the pool in Hudson, Florida. One might ask, “How did the students adapt to such drastic changes — to go from the Adirondack Mts. to the poolside in Sunny Florida?” In efforts to answer questions such as these, we received some input from the students themselves:

Don’t try to hide your face Mr. Hed- dings. We already caught it on film and now we all know what you did all quarter in Florida. (Matt Hurja, Brian Heddings, James Boyle and Mr. Wicks) James Boyle and Matt Hurja learn about the Son in the sun. Ed proudly poses with Briar Bear at the Magic Kingdom. Erin, did those last two hours in class give you the munchies or what?
