ment and humiliation, even as He was while here below; -but when He comes ’ it will be our manifestation, even aS it will be His revelation. . . . The sound of His approach should be as music to our hearts! Eing out, ye bells of hope! —Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Watch and Pray “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing,' but the flesh is weak” (Matt. 26:41). Christian, seek* not yet repose, • Cast thy dreams of ease away, Thou art in the midst of foes: Watch and pray!. 26.

In grave consequences is when the temptation comes to indulge in some less important phase of the same transgression. . . . It seems a very little thing, the “ little” sin in the heart. But it may break through all the restraints that surround us, and but for God’s great -mercy, sink our souls in endless ruin.—Pameii. 22. Christ's Love Draws “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). A man who had been converted from a sinful life had this experience: “I just crept to the feet of Jesus; and, greatly to my astonishment, He did riot scold me—He knew I had been scolded enough; and He didn’t pity me; and He didn’t give me. any ad vice either. He knew I had had plenty of that. He just put His arms around my neck and loved me. And when the sun rose I was a new man.” —H. C. Harburgh. My Steps “Order my steps in thy word” (Psa. 119:133). The “steps” being ordered means a daily, hourly, momentary guidance, and therefore the Word must be our constant study. Yesterday’s message from ,it will not suffice for today. Walking with God means advancing step by step in the will of God. We have nothing to do with life in the aggregate. Each moment brings its duties, responsibilities, burdens, and needs. Our business is to live a mo ment at a time, and that moment for God.— Spiritual Life. 24. Christmas Stars “We have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” .(Matt. 2 : 2 ). The stars are loveliest of all The lovely things on Christmas night, For they are shining just the same As when the'dear Lord Jesus came. And oh, it brings Him close and bear To watch the golden stars shine clear The very stars that shone so bright Upon Him on His birthday night. —Lucy A. K. Adee. 25. Christmas Bells of Hope “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Tit. 2:13). • s Many are celebrating our Lord’s first coming this day; let us turn our thoughts to the promise of His second coming. This is as sure as the first advent, and derives a great measure of its certainty from it. . V . This is our glorious hope, for we shall share His joy. Today we are in our conceal- 23.

'Please God,Make UsWell Again' — pleads this young girl and her baby brother.

"We have leprosy like our father and mother and we do not want to grow up with terrible sores and suffer like them. They told us at the Mission Station that there was no room* because of lack of funds. We went to get well again to play like other boys and girls." The above is an old story which the missionaries hear again and again. Hundreds must be turned away because for them, like the infant Jesus, “there is no room." One missionary writes, "Your heart would break to hear them plead. Think of us who must re fuse them." ,

In the name of Christ, who Himself touched lepers, and who said, “ Suffer little children to come unto Me,” will you send us your CHRISTMAS offering? Your gift will not only provide the saving medical .treatment, but will help bring the message of eternal salvation to these pleading lepers. Lepers have always suffered, but In war their lot Is harder than ever. In China, for example, a pound of flour that used to cost 27 cents now costs $3.18! Please help accordingly. $30 CARES FOR A LEPER CHILD ONE YEAR (But $80 in China!) ^iiiiiiimnninmiiniinniiiinininiminiiiiniiiiiiMBininiiiniiiiiiH clip and mail today ’'iiiiiniiiininiiiiinniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiniiiniiiiiniiiinnii® | THE AMERICAN MISSION TO LEPERS, IN C Dept. 5-D, 156 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.
