Our popular series teaches homesteading and cooking skills that can easily be done at home.Throughout the year we’ll have opportunities to work with animals, cook in our kitchens, grow things to take home, and more!
FIY: FARM IT YOURSELF Extreme Maple Syrup MEMBERS ONLY: Session I: Saturday, February 25 Session II: Saturday, March 4 2:30 – 4 pm
Join us for a special behind-the-scenes look at our Maple Syrup operation and get to help with some of the daily tasks that go into turning our sap into syrup! Help to collect sap and measure how much sugar is in it, learn to use our auger to drill tap holes, tour our sugarbush, and more! See the process of turning sap into syrup with our evaporator and do a taste test of the different grades to see which one you like best! We’ll end our program with a special treat featuring our own maple syrup. Meet at the Sugar House + Cidery. Limited to 16 participants. All attendees over 3 require a ticket. Members: $12/person
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
Winter Tracks & Signs Workshop Saturday, January 21 2 – 3:30 pm Discover how to identify tracks and signs of common wildlife through both in-classroom activities and out on the trail. Make your own plaster track cast to take home and test your skills on our track trivia on the trails. We’ll see which winter wildlife has been active in the forest. Part of the program will be on the trails, so please dress accordingly. Class is limited to 10 children per session. One adult may attend with each child at no charge. Program location will be emailed to participants before the class. Members: $12/child Non-Members: $15/child
SuperbOWL Sunday Sunday, February 12 Session I: 12:30 – 1:30 pm

Celebrate one of our favorite days of the year— SuperbOWL Sunday! No matter who is playing in the big game, there is always great offense and defense in the owl world. Discover the types of owls that call Connecticut home, test yourself with Owl Call Jeopardy, meet our non- releasable barred owl, dissect your own owl pellet, and try your hand at sketching our owls! Class is limited to 10 registrants per session. Children 7 and up may be dropped off for this class or may attend with 1 adult free of charge. Children under 7 must attend with an adult (free of charge). Members: $12/child Non-Members: $15/child
