But, Parisien agreed, the counties would also get criticized for wasting taxpayer money if it didn’t go with the lowest bid on a tender. Work on revamping the website is now in progress. Parisien said the new site should be online within a couple of months. Like the old site, it will be available to both English and French users, and Parisien said it will be more user-friendly for residents.
The counties are under fire for not going local on a contract for revamping the UCPR website. But the chief administrator says the choice was always focused on getting the best budget value. The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) has come under fire from some quarters for outsourcing the contract for redoing the counties’ website to the To- ronto office of an IT company based out of

Stunt driving and driving while impaired cases occupied OPP in Russell County during the past two weeks. Tariq Qureshi, 42, from Québec, Israel Damien Cohn, 18, and Vincent Marcoux, 19, both fromRockland, each had their vehicles impounded and their driver’s licences sus- pended on-site after they were each charged with stunt driving under Ontario’s highway traffic regulations. OPP incident brief states each of the three were caught speeding at 50 kilometres an hour above the posted speed limit. Also under an automatic licence suspen- sion are Albert Paul Dumas, 56, of Rockland, and Gilles Desjardins, 65, of Ottawa. They each face impaired driving-related charges in provincial court in L’Orignal later this month. Both men had their vehicles im- pounded for seven days upon their arrest.
