SELF-DETERMINATION PROGRAM LOCAL VOLUNTEER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Self-Determination Program (SDP) Local Volunteer Advisory Committee (LVAC) was established to ensure effective implementation of the SDP and to facilitate the sharing of best practices, effective consumer and family training materials, addressing implementation concerns, discussing systemic issues, and exploring ways to enhance the program. The SDP LVAC is open to the public and highly encouraged for all SDP families/participants as well as those interested in SDP. For more information, please email selfdetermination@nlacrc.org

PROGRAMA DE AUTODETERMINACIÓN COMITÉ ASESOR DE VOLUNTARIOS LOCALES
El Comité Asesor de Voluntarios Locales (CALV) del Programa de Autodeterminación (PDE) se creó para garantizar la implementación eficaz del PDE y facilitar el intercambio de buenas prácticas, materiales de capacitación eficaces para consumidores y familias, abordar las inquietudes sobre la implementación, debatir problemas sistémicos y explorar maneras de mejorar el programa. Do you know of an individual served, parent, or community member representing the NLACRC catchment area (San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley) who has performed exceptional service on behalf of those served by NLACRC, please consider nominating them? We look forward to recognizing exceptional individuals! Submission Deadline: March 1st, 2026 NORTH LOS ANGELES COUNTY REGIONAL CENTER Jynny Retzinger Award Nomination Jynny Retzinger was a long-time member of the North Los Angeles County Regional Center Board of Trustees. She was a parent and very active in advocating for her son as well as other individuals served. Jynny’s interests in the legislative system led to her founding the first NLACRC Legislative Breakfast. She had an active role in the regional center’s grass roots efforts both locally and at the state level. Jynny chaired the Board’s Government and Community Relations Committee (GCRC) giving vital guidance and direction on various legislative issues throughout her tenure with the Board. We commemorate Jynny’s passion and dedicated volunteer work with this annual award presentation to other community advocates.

The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) and the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) are hosting online Self- Determination Program Orientations in English and Spanish. The SCDD training team includes SCDD staff, self-advocates, and family advocates who have lived experience with the Self- Determination Program. One size does not fit all. You can choose the presentation day and time that fits into your schedule. https://scdd.ca.gov/sdp- orientation/ After attending an SDP Orientation, you will have all the information you need to help you choose if it is right for you and enroll at your local Regional Center.
