It proposes a theoretical approach and a methodological toolkit for evaluating these roles and the forms of influence exerted on their followers, based on multiple criteria, including audience size, the nature of the discourse, and the strategies employed by influencers. It also introduces a multidimensional criterion encompassing the density of political content, its mode of presentation, and the degree to which this political content is proximate to political actors and the state’s official discourse. The study adopts a comparative method and qualitative discourse analysis by monitoring and analysing the content of a sample of Arab influencers operating in different digital environments (inside and outside the Arab region). The sample consisted of 50 digital influencers across multiple platforms (YouTube, Meta, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) during the period from 20 April to 10 November 2025. The sample was selected according to specific criteria such as reach indicators, digital influence (i.e. number of followers and engagement), diversity of geographic affiliation (inside/outside the Arab world), and the production of political content or interaction with it in direct or indirect ways. The researcher collected data from the platforms mentioned above using a netnographic approach (digital ethnography), which facilitated the continuous monitoring and tracking of content across platforms. The findings show that geographic location is not merely a spatial determinant; rather, it is an active factor in shaping modes of opposition and intensifying political content. Being located outside one’s home country provides influencers with broader space for critical expression and assertive opposition, while geographic proximity to state authority encourages more symbolic, humorous or entertainment-oriented
