Abstract: The study seeks to investigate the functional and structural role of televised digital platform programmes in news production on Arab digital platforms. It explores the structure of new digital formats, the production of their components, and identifies their features and characteristics that serve as a primary driver of their spread, as well as their ability to attract attention and garner massive viewership, in comparison to traditional journalistic genres and formats. Arab media screens have increasingly adopted new digital formats to update their programming strategies, with televised digital platform programmes now enjoying a wide presence across various Arab TV channels and occupying a significant space on social media platforms. The study adopts a quantitative methodology to address the central question regarding the functional and structural role of televised digital platform programs in news production. This approach enables the handling of large samples and precise data analysis, using a questionnaire completed by a purposive sample of 180 respondents across 13 Arab countries, including social media users, journalists and activists. The study’s findings reveal that 71 % of the sample consider social media platforms their primary source of news. Additionally, 32 % of respondents "frequently" follow digital platforms that present news in the form of digital stories. The study also highlights that the importance of topics, flexible and audience-oriented performance, brevity, and fast pace and digital storytelling were among the main reasons that motivated respondents to follow digital stories - reported by 32.78 % of the sample. This aligns with the evolving communicative preferences of the digital audience, who exhibit a complex blend of communicative behaviour. This underscores the need for greater and more innovative efforts to capture and retain their attention, which has become the most significant challenge in contemporary digital journalism. Shabakat, broadcast by Al Jazeera, emerged as the most-watched televised digital program among the sample, with 63.30 % reporting they follow it. It was followed by BBC Arabic’s Trending at 7.80 %, and Alaraby TV’s Tawasul at 6.70 %. Keyword: Televised Digital Storytelling, Digital Journalism, Digital Story Making, Social Media Platforms.
