Bob. Christians help keep the light of the gospel shining in the church. The light in this church is very dim, and the reason for it is that Bill and Bob are far apart. Neither of them is very near Christ. Per haps they have had a quarrel. Bill begins to read his Bible and to pray more, and he realizes that he is not as near to Christ and his brother as he should be; so he moves closer. Notice, the light in the church is growing brighter. When he reaches the cross, the light is much brighter, but it still is not as bright as it should be. Bob sees how much good it has done for Bill to draw close to Christ, and he decides to do the same thing. The light is rapidly growing brighter. As a Christian draws near to Christ, he gets nearer to other Christians as well. Bill and Bob now remind me of the Christians in Mark 16:20 of whom it was said: “They went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them.” They were close to Christ and close to each other, and God blessed them.

Memory Verse: “ Teach me to do thy w ill; for thou art my God” (Psa. 143:10). Approach: Three days had passed after the body o f the Lord Jesus was laid away in the grave. How sad His friends were!

They had so hoped that He was going to deliver them from the Romans. They hadn’t believed Him when He said that He must suffer and die for them. And now He was gone, just as He had said. They re m em b ered it now, but they forgot the

wTill serve as nonconducting handles. Fasten the red cross to the outside of the dish at about the middle of one side. Cover the windows of the church with richly colored translucent paper, such as is found in envelope linings. Place the light bulb back of the church. Fill the glass dish half full of water. Place one of the bolts in each end of the dish. If the light bulb in the church fails to give a dim light, sprinkle salt in the water gradually until it does. This test should be made beforehand.) Lesson: These bolts are so much like Christians that I have named them Bill and

rest of what He had said to them. And that was the part that has changed this saddest story to the happiest one ever, told. Lesson Story: It was not until three days later, when three sorrowing women, friends of Jesus, were hurrying to His tomb to anoint His body, that they found out what really had happened. You see, Jesus had said to them that He would be killed and would rise again. This is the part that they had forgotten. The women were wondering as they hurried along who would roll away the stone at the door, for it was heavy. But when they reached the place, they found that an angel had been before them. The stone was rolled back, and the body of Jesus was no longer there. Instead there sat an angel who told them: “ He is risen; he is not here. . . . But go . . . tell his dis ciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee.” They were frightened. Never had they seen anything like this before. It was hard to believe. But they did believe, and so did the disciples, too. They had to believe, be cause Jesus, the risen Lord, showed Himself to them again and again before He went back to heaven. He had to make them understand that He had risen from the dead and that because He arose, they too should arise. He showed them that He was going back to heaven to be with the Father, and that they too should go to heaven when they died. This was the gospel story—the “ good news”— that they were to tell people all over the world. Even to this day this story1is being told that those who believe it may be saved. Do you believe it, and are you telling it to others? Objects: An electric light cord about six feet long, two square-headed bolts four inches long, two sticks one inch square by seven inches long, a long glass dish such as is used to defrost an electric refrigerator, a red cross cut from cardboard about ten inches high, and the side view of a church cut from cardboard. (Cut one of the wires in the light cord. Fasten a new wire about three feet long to the current end, and another the same length to the light end of the cut wire. Tape the joints. Fasten the ends of each of these wires to separate bolts with solder or be tween nuts. Before fastening the wires to the bolts, bore a hole in the end of each stick and slip one over each bolt.
