giving our acquiescing belief to the fact. It involves a continuous receiving of what Christ is, for the glory in its inception and its continuance is just the realizing, appro priating, and then reproducing naturally and inevitably “this mystery . . . which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” It is a memorable day in spiritual history when we say to those gates which for so long have proudly excluded Christ as King, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and the K ing of glory shall come in.”— W . G rist . "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of re demption” .(Eph. 4:30). Do we read, “ Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, lest you should grieve Him away?” No, you are not going to grieve Him away. . . . When He comes to indwell a believer, He never leaves. David, in the Old Testa ment dispensation, said, “ Take not thy Holy Spirit from me,” but in the glorious dis pensation o f grace, that prayer is not becom ing to our lips, for when He comes to indwell us, He never leaves us until we are presented faultless in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. He does not leave— He dwells within—but is grieved all the time that we are walking in disobedience to the Word. That is why many of us are never very happy. As long as the Holy Spirit dwells in me ungrieved, He is free to take of the things of Christ and show - them unto me, and that fills my heart with gladness.—From In the Heavenlies by H. A . suggests that “ finding pasture” is the sole object of our, going in and out. Is it not true that when we have found the way in, or rather have been shown the way and led in, we should “ go out” in search for the wandering and lost who have never seen the way?— The Christian. JUNE 11 Victory in Him "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne” (Rev. 3:21). If a man is not willing to go to heaven by the way of Calvary he cannot go at all. Many men want a religion in which thefe is no cross, but they cannot enter heaven that way. . . . Do not think you will have no battles if you follow the Nazarene; many battles are before you. But men do not object to a battle, if they are confident that they will have the victory, and, thank God, every one of us may have the victory if he will.— D. L. M oody . JUNE 12 God’s Messenger “And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude” (Matt. 15:36). There are secondary causes in the spiritual as well as in the natural world. Christ was here breaking the bread to the multitude, but He does not give it to the multitude directly; He gives it through a medium. He puts it into the hands of the disciples and tells them to give it; the divine blessing comes through a secular channel. So is it ever with the providence of God, He sends the bread to feed my soul, but He sends it through earthly ministers, sometimes in earthen vessels. . . . He sends it by the most commonplace conveyances, by the most trivial incidents, by the most unlikely con tingencies. I am every day, every hour, every moment in the presence of the mes sengers of God.— G eorge M atheson ,
