The Civic Center Music Hall hosts a wide variety of performances, including Broadway musicals, ballet, opera and symphony orchestra concerts. The Civic Center staff also programs events at the Hudiburg Events Center in Midwest City. For a taste of local talent, the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Jewel Box Theatre, Painted Sky Opera and the Carpenter Square Theatre all produce a full roster of live performances, ranging from classic musicals to national-debuting scripted dramas. Those performances can be seen at the organization’s own theaters or at the Civic Center. There are also live performances by Shakespeare in the Park on the Paseo Arts District stage. OKLAHOMA CONTEMPORARY For more than 30 years, Oklahoma Contemporary has been a vital resource for contemporary art experiences of all kinds in the region and those experiences will only increase at the center’s new home. While the building itself is a piece of art, the new Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center continues the organization’s legacy of creating opportunities for different communities to experience art, encounter new ideas and explore their creative potential. The exhibitions are always free to view and feature work of living artists from around the world that challenge the ideas seen in today’s culture.
