Workforce Development
Looking ahead to a big 2025
We’re also supporting various School Career Events and expos throughout the year. Schools can register their interest early to ensure we can bring our hospitality expertise and resources to their students. Our Hospitality Pathway Program, designed for Years 11 and 12, offers students a staged experience aimed at building a solid foundation for a hospitality career. This includes work experience opportunities to deepen their learning.
With schools now back in session across Tasmania, our Workforce Development programs are gearing up for a busy and impactful year. We’ve got a range of exciting initiatives lined up to showcase the opportunities within the hospitality industry and support student engagement with career pathways. Our Cooking Challenges, held each term for Years 9-12, will allow students to demonstrate their creativity and skills in the kitchen. Each term features a new theme, where participants submit their dishes to compete for restaurant vouchers and recognition.
These programs not only inspire and equip the next generation of our hospitality workforce but also provide a fantastic platform for venues to get involved. Businesses can connect with students through school career events, and work experience placements—an opportunity to nurture new talent and promote career paths in their operations. By engaging, venues have the chance to build relationships with future employees and contribute to the growth of our industry.
The Hospitality Awareness Sessions continue to provide tailored workshops for students in Years 9-12. Delivered by experienced ambassadors, these sessions offer hands-on activities and insights into the diversity of hospitality careers and training opportunities. Additionally, students can participate in our Hospitality Showcases across Devonport, Launceston, and Hobart. These events include rotating workshops on barista skills, bar operations, kitchen techniques, and front-of-house service. Industry professionals will share their career journeys, offering inspiration and practical advice to attendees.
