Tourism Tasmania
Sarah Clark
There’s been plenty of events enticing visitors and locals to explore our wonderful state this summer, with many more still to come. Highlights have included the Taste of Summer, Festivale, the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Party In The Paddock, and Tas Wine Fest, with the Launceston Cup, ECHO Festival and Ten Days on the Island coming up. While events have been keeping things busy on the ground, our team at Tourism Tasmania have been working hard to reach a milestone achievement ahead of winter. Over 300 unique wintery Off Season offers have been made live and bookable on our Discover Tasmania website as of February, ensuring we’re capturing as many forward bookings for the upcoming season as possible. This is the earliest we’ve ever been able to make Off Season offers live ahead of winter, and I want to thank everyone who engaged with us to create a unique wintery offering as part of our campaign. We know it can be hard to think about winter in the midst of summer, but this forward planning is important to get Australians thinking about Tasmania year-round. It’s also important to show Australians the value and reward in booking a winter holiday to Tasmania, giving
them plenty of time to plan ahead.
We will still be accepting winter offers up until March 7 to be part of our Off Season campaign. Take a look at what is already available at www.discovertasmania. com.au/off-season . Offers will be supported by a series of eDMs to our subscribers, with the full Off Season campaign launching on March 30 with advertisements across Australia to help drive bookings and inspire people to ‘become a winter person’. In other news, we’ve recently finished travelling around Tasmania for our Visitor Economy Regional Gathering events. These sessions were presented in partnership with THA, Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, the regional tourism organisations, Events Tasmania and the Department of State Growth. It was great to get out into Tasmania’s regions, connect with tourism operators, and share updates on demand- driving activities, government funding packages, and industry support programs. Wishing you all the best for these last days of summer as we move into the next season for tourism in Tasmania.
