Included here on these two pages are the results of our home raised steers and heifers we sent to Feller and Co, Wisner NE. The first sheet is the cost of feed, yardage, medicine and gains at the feedlot. The second is the balance sheet when the steers got harvested at Tyson. This is your balance sheet and road map where you can plug in different gains and costs. This is established on every pen of calves sold, whether you sell at a sale barn, privately or video auction. We want to help show our customers there are other ways to capitalize on their cattle and to put all the money they can on their bottom line. Knowing where you want to go will help you get to where you want to be. We use proven AI sires, EPD’s and genomics to reach our goals. Genomics have made so much progress since they were available in 2009. The predictability has made it much more reliable to meet our goals. We have always selected for multi-trait excellence. We manage fertility, weaning weight, and disposition, and cull cattle that don’t meet our goals. Since 2012 we have shortened our calving window to 30 days. This
has helped with the uniformity in our cows and bulls we sell. We don’t offer as many bulls as we could, but we are focused on one thing, which is quality. We don’t have a buyback program but what we do offer is links to buyers and feedlots which gives you the opportunity to take advantage of your genetics.
