HATEVER YOU ARE living with now is your new normal. And as things get better, so will your
new normal. Be that as it may, whatever was normal before March 2020 won’t ever be typical again. Normal will be different, businesses will reopen but some may not revert to how they used to operate. Public transport might still carry people choosing to wear masks. Cash transactions will be rare, once busy restaurants and pubs may no longer find favour with as many customers, quieter places might be more in favour, but charging higher prices. Aspects of social distancing might persist in queues or simply when out and about. Spectator sports might not fully recover as people have found new interests and pass-times. Holiday travel by plane might take longer to find its new normal. But whatever it is, Christmas should be celebrated, with gratitude that we all made it this far.
