Why I Love the Law How Advocating for Others Helps Me Succeed
As we head into the heart of the Valentine’s season, many are thinking of their loved ones. I’m one of the many still searching for just the right gift for my wife, but I’m only able to do this because I love what I do for a career. I can better focus on loved ones and live a more fulfilling life because I feel rewarded at work. It means the world to me that I’m able to stick up for people who need an advocate. It’s kind of a David versus Goliath scenario; we help people who truly need assistance and go to battle for them if necessary. When we do have to go to court, the art and science of taking an insurance company’s argument and turning it against them fascinates me. Their defense techniques are ever-evolving, so to be an effective lawyer, I need to be attentive to how and why they’re changing their strategies. This makes every day an exciting new challenge. For instance, insurance companies sometimes reduce the value of certain types of injuries. In court, I will find current expert medical reports that showcase how their value system is incorrect and throw it back at them. “It means the world to me that I’m able to stick up for people who need an advocate. It’s kind of a David versus Goliath scenario; we help people who truly need assistance and go to battle for them if necessary.”
In addition to being a friend to my clients, I want to give them peace of mind in their time of need. When my clients are severely injured, I always tell them, “Focus purely on getting better and not on the case. Let me worry about your claim.” It’s so rewarding when you see the difference in their recovery. You can watch as the stress and anxiety that comes with fighting an insurance claim wears people down and takes an unneeded toll on them, and I do everything I can to prevent that. So, whether it’s being an advocate for my clients, building relationships with them, making them feel comfortable as they recover, or something as simple as helping them into their rental car after a car wreck, the results make it all worthwhile. If it were not for this community and my clients like you, I would not lead such a fulfilling life and still be stumped for the best gift for my wife!
It’s not only advocating for my clients that fills me with joy but also getting to knowmy clients on a personal level. When I first meet my clients, they’re in a phase of their lives that isn’t ideal, and they’re suffering. I like to see past this phase and get to know the real them. It’s so rewarding to see them as friends after I’ve helped guide them through the process. It’s nice to see clients in the grocery store or out in public, and I love when they call to check in because it reminds me of the positive impact I have in the community. It’s funny, though: Whenever I feel bogged down or frustrated with the insurance claims or litigation processes, I will get a call from a new client who was referred from a previous client. Most of the time, it’s a family member or close friend of the former client, and it’s a special feeling to know they’re confident in my ability to take care of their loved one. It just showcases the community of support we have cultivated over the years, which helps me push myself when I’m feeling discouraged.
