Anne Arundel County Public Library Happenings Summer 2024

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION U P C O M I N G

Sweet Success T hank you to our friends at Always Ice Cream for their dedication to the library with the Dragons Love Toffee campaign. With your support, we scooped up $2,184 to ensure lifelong literacy and learning. We can’t wait for 2025! Staff at all libraries were treated to Dragons Love Toffee ice cream cakes, which were hand-delivered by foundation staff and board members. Photo: Diane Rinaldo of the AACPL Foundation Board of Directors delivered an ice cream cake to the Broadneck Library. Staff members Lynn Garretson (left) and Jennifer Hetherington (right) look forward to the treat!

Fine-Motor Skill Building for Preschoolers

ex-officio Don Rau

Kindergarten readiness programs are in full force at our branches. More than 100 people had fun squishing and creating with play dough at the Edgewater Library recently. They didn’t have time to think about the fine motor skills they were honing; they were just having fun! Over six tables offered different stations where eager littles could build and create. All our preschool friends had a great time thanks to the staff who created four batches of homemade play dough. Community donors funded the ingredients and other supplies.

Library Staff Out in the Community

Broadneck Library staff recently participated in Broadneck High School’s first STEAM Fair. Over 340 students and adults learned about building manipulatives to develop foundational math and science skills. Staff brought donor-funded, hands-on educational construction building toys so everyone could unleash creativity and build critical thinking skills. Donors like you make outreach a successful reality for our community.

• To mix and mingle with other library lovers • To learn things you never knew about the library • It’s a blast!
