MIGHT and The British High Commission held a virtual soft launch for the UK Smart Cities Mission ociated by the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, His Excellency Charles Hay MVO, jointly with MIGHT’s President and CEO Datuk Dr. Mohd Yuso Sulaiman. This was the prelude to the UK Smart Cities Mission to Malaysia 2022, held virtually from 22-24 February 2022. The mission creates a platform for stakeholders to exchange expertise and explore collaboration scopes in smart cities development, aligning to the seven focus areas outlined in Malaysia Smart Cities Framework. The seven focus areas are Smart Economy, Smart Living, Smart Environment, Smart People, Smart Government, Smart Mobility, and Smart Digital Infrastructure. Various strategic partners, including Arup, British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, British Standards Institution, Connected Places Catapult, Cyberview, Digital Penang, MYICSC, Malaysia Proptech Association, Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance, MIGHT, Mott MacDonald, Smart Selangor, Smart Selangor Delivery Unit, Tech Nation, TechUK, TMONE, Transport for West Midlands,UK-ASEAN Business Council and Urbanice Malaysia support the mission. As a local partner for the UK’s Smart City Mission to Malaysia, MIGHT draws upon its extensive international collaborative experience to provide a strategic platform for the public and private sectors to bring together resources and expertise in developing strategic industries and sustainable development best practices through science, technology, and innovation application. A high-level panel forum alongside the soft launch sparked conversation on urban planning, design standards, and technology adoption. Panellists included senior representatives from the British Standards Institution, Connected Places Catapult, Digital Penang, and PlanMalaysia.
