The Rapid Digital Reskilling Programme
The advancement into the digital age and Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) has rendered digital skills a necessity for employees and businesses alike in the current landscape, even prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, there is a shortage of such skills as evidenced by a Randstad survey in 2018 that found close to 90% of the Malaysian workforce does not have digital skills, and graduate unemployment also increased due to the lack of such skills. Realising the importance of this issue, Malaysian Industry-Government Group of High Technology (MIGHT) , AirAsia Academy and Malaysian Society for Engineering and Technology (MysET) collaborated in creating this programme as it has the potential to address the gap. Consistent upskilling would also address the issue given the fleeting nature of technology stacks, which have expanded market reach and lowered costs, and have enabled the development of new products and services. This programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), which reflected on the aspiration of the Malaysian Government in creating a future-ready workforce.
