National Defence and Security Industry Policy (NDSIP)

Government agencies including PDRM, BOMBA, IPSOM and STRIDE were engaged to assess their specific needs and requirements, understand their strategic planning for the next 5 to 10 years, and explore opportunities for future collaborations.
MIGHT also conducted interview sessions with companies which expressed interest to be part of the development of the NDSIP. The companies represent the six sectors (aerospace, automotive, maritime, ICT, weaponry and common-use) within the DSI. The sessions aims at understanding the current industry ecosystem, issues and challenges, current conundrum of the industry and suggestions in developing a holistic policy to nourish business environment for the local DSI. Thematic analysis was conducted based on the transcribed interviews according to MIGHT’s F.I.R.S.T™ matrix. Each of the components of funding & finance, infrastructure, regulations & governance, skills & talent, and technology was examined to gain an understanding of participants’ perceptions and motivations. MIGHT also engaged with five countries namely China, South Korea, Turkey, Indonesia and Singapore as part of the international benchmarking exercise.
