Interview sessions with several foreign represen- tative as part of benchmarking process. MIGHT had engaged five (5) pre-selected countries namely China, South Korea, Turkey, Indonesia and Singapore as part of the interna- tional benchmarking exercise. Also, France, Japan, the Netherlands and Australia had shown their interest in helping Malaysia to develop the NDSIP. The Netherlands and Australia, through their Embassy and High Consulate in Malaysia, were willing to allocate some time for interview sessions through online platform.
The Security Industry Workshop was held to gather representatives from departments and agencies under MOHA as well as several other security and enforcement agencies such as Fire And Rescue Department of Malaysia (BOMBA), Royal Malaysian Custom Department (KASTAM), Malaysia Civil Defence Department (JPN), and Civil Aviation Administration of Malaysia (CAAM). The purpose of this workshop is to obtain stakeholders’ inputs and suggestions from the perspective of the security domain. Throughout the workshop, the participants showed their full support by validating the vision, mission and the framework that have been developed during the Scenario Building Workshop. The participants shared their understanding of the industry trends, while identifying new and emerging areas and technologies to be explored by the DSI. They also put forward numerous ideas in identifying the industry’s strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) which were translated into actionable items. At the end of the workshop, the participants categorised which actionable items should be pursued in the formulation of NDSIP strategies, through prioritisation in terms of ‘Sustainability vs Feasibility’.
The questionnaire and interview sessions revolved around the importance of DSI to the country’s economic growth, their Governments’ initiatives to develop and support local DSI, key strategies to develop DSI ecosystem, as well as determining critical success factors in imple- menting those strategies.
