LET OUR TEAM OF ADVOCATES GUIDE YOU THROUGH THEM 3 STEPS TO TAKE IF YOU SLIP AND FALL IN A PUBLIC PLACE T XT

The start of the holiday season encourages more people to travel from place to place to gather the ingredients they need for upcoming festivities. An unfortunate side effect of all the added hustle and bustle is that the floors of public places, like grocery stores and restaurants, get dirtier more quickly. Few people realize that businesses like these have an obligation to keep their patrons safe from any dangerous conditions while on their property, which includes making sure the floors are free of hazards. Slipping and falling is more than just embarrassing for the victim. It can leave him or her with serious injuries and chronic pain. Even if you’re taking careful precautions while walking this holiday season, you can’t plan for everything. If you or someone you know has a slip and fall accident, here are steps you can take to make sure you are protected. 1. GET MEDICAL HELP If you suffered a bad fall, make sure you call an ambulance right away. Even if you feel like your injuries aren’t severe enough to warrant emergency services, you still need to meet with your doctor to be checked and get the treatment you need. Sometimes falls that don’t seem that severe initially can cause fractures or torn ligaments. Lastly, make sure to get a copy of your medical records and take pictures of your injuries if you can. 2. GIVE A STATEMENT If you are able, be sure to file an incident report with the store’s manager, but don’t sign anything ! These reports provide documentation regarding what hazards in the store caused you to fall and can make all the difference in a court case.

3. CALL OUR OFFICE Lastly, but most importantly, call our office for guidance, advice, and representation. This process can quickly grow complicated, frustrating, and stressful, and that’s why our advocates will be here to help you every step of the way. If you or someone you know suffered injuries from a slip and fall accident, get in touch with us as soon as possible!
