Year 7 Bulletin 13.09.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

It has been lovely to see Year 7 settling in so well at the start of their school journey. They had a productive and fun time on the induction day, getting to know their form tutor, meeting the form prefects and having a tour so they become familiar with their surroundings, meeting and making new friends, completing the Hunt challenge and starting to learn lots of key information. Now they are getting to know their daily routine, using their maps to find their way to each lesson and experiencing new lessons. Well done Year 7 you are doing very well, the Year 7 team is very impressed. Year 7 have started earning epraise points in lessons and I will share details of their achievements via the bulletin over the course of the year. 7PCO are currently at the top of the tutor group leaderboard - well done. Lunchtime and afterschool clubs will be starting from next week and we would like to encourage year 7 to give them a try. A reminder of the dates for the upcoming Thames Young Mariners trips: Thursday19 September for 7EEL and 7ESU, Monday 23 September for 7FGC and 7FLY, Wednesday 25 September for 7PCO and 7PFO and Friday 27 September for 7SDE and 7SON. A letter has been sent to you with all the required information. I am sure Year 7 are very much looking forward to this exciting day trip and we look forward to hearing about their experiences in the forthcoming bulletins. Next week on Wednesday 18 September we will have the final set of school photographs for our cohort. Please can we ask that you help support us upholding the uniform policy of no fake eyelashes and minimal makeup. Thank you in advance for your support.

MRS BASHFORD-HYNES, HEAD OF YEAR 7

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Leila and the Blue Fox, Kiran Millwood Hargrave

She was very tired. She lay down, her soft head on her soft paws. The sunset licked her face. The snow covered her like a blanket.

Based on the true story of an Arctic fox who walked from Norway to Canada in seventy-six days, a distance of two thousand miles, this is a compelling, emotion- al and beautifully illustrated story. Great for thinking and talking about issues around climate change and immigration.
